Following the merger of the Norwegian groups in 1917, some members of the Parkland Evangelical Lutheran congregation joined to form Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. The congregation was officially organized on August 25, 1919. The congregation of which they had been members had been established in 1890 at Pacific Lutheran University, and continued to exist after the merger when they became members of what is known as the Norwegian Synod.
